Substitute Intervention Specialist

The Substitute Intervention Specialist provides Title I reading and math services during the absence of the Innovative Scholars Title I Intervention Specialist. Applicants will be dedicated to raising academic achievement, committed to providing individualized learning to students with a wide range of academic needs, and experienced teaching in a blended learning environment.
Responsibilities
Substitute for Intervention Specialists during their absence.
Implement substitute lesson plans provided by Intervention Specialists
Pull students for instruction sessions according to the schools’ posted intervention schedules.
Provide individualized and small group instruction and monitor digital learning activities.
Provide instruction in reading and math to individuals and small groups.
Maintain classroom management at each session.
Record attendance and take class notes.
Must attend training sessions and paid professional development.
Must be available to substitute at any of our school locations.
Terms of Employment
Days and hours worked at each location vary depending on the program schedule.
Substitutes are required to arrive at their assigned location a minimum of one hour prior to the first scheduled class.
Must pass the district-required background check.
Requirements
Teacher currently not working in classroom setting. Unassigned, substitute, or retired teachers encouraged.
Teaching and/or tutoring experience is required.
Familiarity with best strategies in math and reading.
Previous experience working with an intervention program (preferred)
Experience working with technology-based educational programs and familiarity with Google Chrome (preferred).
Ability to provide own transportation to sites in multiple Chicago neighborhoods.
Experience working with English Language Learners and/or Special Education students. (preferred)
Spoken and written Spanish (preferred).
Must pass the district-required background check.
Compensation
Between $100 - 175 a day, depending on program schedule.
